Tonnaysha Wilkins, 24, of Waldorf, is facing charges following a bizarre domestic disturbance that ended up with her in custody after she was found storming about outside a Seal Place home.

The incident was reported shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 7 in the 6200 block of Seal Place in Waldorf.

Upon arrival, officers said that they found Wilkins in the front yard holding what appeared to be a rifle. Officers de-escalated the situation and convinced her to put down the weapon, which was ultimately determined to be a BB gun.

Investigators say that the investigation found that Wilkins brandished the BB gun while repeatedly assaulting his victim during an incident involving a relative. She then shot the family member with the gun and broke a glass door inside the Waldorf home before making her way outside, where she was ultimately apprehended.

Wilkins was arrested without further incident and charged with:

  •
First-degree assault;
  • Second-degree assault;
  • Malicious destruction of property.

Earlier this week, a judge released Wilkins pending her next court appearance.
